When Uttoxeter's Jonny Downes in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Thorne AFC's goalie prevented a goal. Garth Froggatt charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Graham Jackson had in the 24thth minute some difficulties stopping Greg Lawson's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Bob Beecham struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Joshua Nethercot didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Uttoxeter. Bob Beecham succeeded in the game's 30th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-1. After 35 minutes Uttoxeter's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Greg Lawson who took care of the corner kick. The supporters of Uttoxeter booed when Thorne AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lennie Hopker didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonny Downes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joshua Nethercot having to make a save. When Dominik Carpenter fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Thorne AFC's protests and gave Dominik Carpenter a yellow card for diving instead. In the 46th minute, one of Thorne AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Thorne AFC.

Bob Beecham's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 54thth minute, Joshua Nethercot skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Joshua Nethercot showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonny Downes in the 62nd minute of the match. Dominik Carpenter got his second yellow card in the match during the 66th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Thorne AFC getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Dominik Carpenter hit a great ball. 67 minutes into the match, Uttoxeter's Ollie Darby sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joshua Nethercot narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ron Rooney during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 69th minute, Ron Rooney hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Ollie Darby in the 69th minute really tested Joshua Nethercot's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Bob Beecham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joshua Nethercot having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Thorne AFC's Ron Rooney got a free kick in the 75th minute. The long shot by Ollie Darby in the 76th minute really tested Joshua Nethercot's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. 77 minutes into the match, Thorne AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Jonny Downes came free, but Joshua Nethercot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 84 minutes, Bob Beecham managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Uttoxeter's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bob Beecham was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonny Downes in the 98th minute of play forced Thorne AFC's goalkeeper Joshua Nethercot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
