Ponteland United's Silvester Fowler proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Ponteland United from getting a goal against them. In the 18th minute Ponteland United were awarded a corner. Johnny Burrows went to the cornerflag to take it. Johnny Burrows made a great header on Ponteland United's corner, it was just that Barcelona's Albert Ashworth managed to reach the ball for a save. Silvester Fowler made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Jerome Wagstaff sent off a good shot on target. Silvester Fowler didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jerome Wagstaff went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. If Spike Wardman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silvester Fowler stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zane Woodcock's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. After a rather tough play, Barcelona's Jerome Wagstaff got a free kick in the 34th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Barcelona's zone, Derek Bassett stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Albert Ashworth came out of the goal and Derek Bassett tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Ponteland United's Spike Wardman in the 41st minute got a chance for a shot 41st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Barcelona's goalie prevented a goal. Zane Woodcock received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Silvester Fowler tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zane Woodcock recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Zane Woodcock fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvester Fowler having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Derek Bassett made a kick off. In the 70th minute, Eddy Butcher hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 71st minute Jerome Wagstaff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvester Fowler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72nd match minute, Ponteland United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lewis Medlin to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zane Woodcock in the 93rd minute of play forced Ponteland United's goalkeeper Silvester Fowler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jerome Wagstaff fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvester Fowler having to interfere. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Barcelona had played much better football throughout.
