But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Micheal Greenwood couldn't finish the play. In the 22nd minute Greg Parkinson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Philip Frost saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Micheal Greenwood had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 26 minutes into the match, Vince Duckworth had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joel Beckham. Woodbridge's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vince Duckworth was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Vince Duckworth fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joel Beckham having to interfere. Vince Duckworth blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joel Beckham having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Syd Abbotts in the 40th minute of play forced Shoeburyness City's goalkeeper Philip Frost to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joe Gower struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Joel Beckham didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shoeburyness City. If Vince Duckworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Syd Abbotts made a kick off. Ronny Symons kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Woodbridge's Rob Gardner shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 57th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Philip Frost but with some difficulty. In the 59th minute Syd Abbotts shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Philip Frost saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Shoeburyness City's Vince Duckworth got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Shoeburyness City's Philip Frost proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Shoeburyness City from getting a goal against them. Philip Frost made an important save on a dangerous shot by Chaz Leather in the 63rd minute. In the 68th minute, Vince Duckworth left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Shoeburyness City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Philip Frost took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Calum Holt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vern Beadel might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joel Beckham. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Vern Beadel ran back to his position shaking his head. If Joe Gower had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vince Duckworth might have been able to make a better finish in the 92nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joel Beckham. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
