Spectators: 7000 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 2000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Johnathon Beesley kicked off to start the match. After some careless play in the Otley defense, Vince Duckworth kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jack Warburton. The Otley fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jack Warburton should have stopped the shot. Jack Warburton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vince Duckworth in the 9th minute of play. In the 11th minute, Joe Gower ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jack Warburton was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Philip Frost showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Johnathon Beesley, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. 16 minutes into the match, Vince Duckworth had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jack Warburton. Otley's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vince Duckworth was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Phil Johnston came free with the goalkeeper in the 20th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Philip Frost could save by the left post. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Vince Duckworth managed to get in a good position for a shot. Shoeburyness City's supporters rose to their feet, but Vince Duckworth was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jack Warburton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Micheal Greenwood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Jack Warburton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute, Vince Duckworth left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Shoeburyness City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Philip Frost showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Johnathon Beesley in the 34th minute of the match. Ronny Symons blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jack Warburton having to make a save. 39 minutes into the game, Mick Shipperley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Shoeburyness City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Otley the free kick. In the 39th match minute, Shoeburyness City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mick Shipperley to maneuver through the defense. Philip Frost took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Johnathon Beesley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vince Duckworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Otley getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Nathan Bayne hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Vince Duckworth got free with Jack Warburton in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Joe Gower managed to get in a good position for a shot. Shoeburyness City's supporters rose to their feet, but Joe Gower was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jack Warburton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Shoeburyness City's Philip Frost played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johnathon Beesley in the 56th minute of play. Vince Duckworth's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 58thth minute, Jack Warburton skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Jack Warburton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vince Duckworth in the 64th minute. In the 69th minute Gregory Dawson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Philip Frost saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vince Duckworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 77 played minutes Otley got a freekick which was hit by Scott Eastwood. The audience held their breath when Micheal Greenwood in the 79th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Jack Warburton's left hand side. After 81 played minutes Shoeburyness City got a freekick which was hit by Mick Shipperley. After recieving a nice pass, Otley's Gregory Dawson tried to score from far away in the 82nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Otley's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Vince Duckworth fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as Shoeburyness City's Vince Duckworth slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jack Warburton. That made the score 1-6 after 91 minutes of play. Joe Gower sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match was over Shoeburyness City could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Otley throughout the match.
