The supporters of Airblue booed when Bethnal Green and Hackney was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abraham Eubank didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 5 minutes, Andy Gardener managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Airblue's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andy Gardener was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Andy Gardeners short, quick shot in the 7thth minute got Wesley Southgate to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. A hard shot 9 in the game by Andy Gardener from a close distance when the talented Wesley Southgate managed to make a qualified save. Bethnal Green and Hackney's players were relieved. After 10 minutes, Ralf Rockett mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bethnal Green and Hackney and the Airblue players grew even worse after the yellow card. Wesley Southgate was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Alan Swanson. 14 minutes into the game, Airblue's Andy Gardener nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Wesley Southgate made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Andy Gardener put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Wesley Southgate. 21 minutes into the match, Bethnal Green and Hackney's goal looked a bit too open when Russell McDonald came free, but Wesley Southgate reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Andy Gardener got free with Wesley Southgate in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Russell McDonald had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the match, Bethnal Green and Hackney's goalkeeper Wesley Southgate had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andy Gardener. Wesley Southgate showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Russell McDonald, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Bethnal Green and Hackney's Ralf Rockett got his second yellow card of the match in the 31st minute. The referee ordered Ralf Rockett off the ground. In the 32nd match minute, Bethnal Green and Hackney was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ralf Rockett to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Alan Swanson in the 33rd minute really tested Wesley Southgate's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. With a little luck, Bethnal Green and Hackney's Wesley Southgate got control of the ball when Andy Gardener tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Bethnal Green and Hackney defense, Russell McDonald kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wesley Southgate. The Bethnal Green and Hackney fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wesley Southgate should have stopped the shot. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Wally Howarth was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alf Daly showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-1 in the 54 minute of play. When the match clock showed 58 minutes, the score became 4-1 when Andy Gardener sped through Bethnal Green and Hackney's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Wesley Southgate. 60 minutes into the game, Todd Vaughn was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bethnal Green and Hackney's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Airblue the free kick. After 60 played minutes Bethnal Green and Hackney got a freekick which was hit by Todd Vaughn. After a rather tough play, Bethnal Green and Hackney's Alf Daly got a free kick in the 64th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andy Gardener in the 67th minute of play forced Bethnal Green and Hackney's goalkeeper Wesley Southgate to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wesley Southgate stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andy Gardener's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Russell McDonald managed to get in a good position for a shot. Airblue's supporters rose to their feet, but Russell McDonald was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wesley Southgate breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Andy Gardener recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Airblue's Wally Howarth got control of the ball when Jonathan Nowland tried to sneak it across the goal line. Andy Gardener sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wesley Southgate stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andy Gardener's shot from short distance in the 92nd minute. In the 93rd minute Russell McDonald shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wesley Southgate saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wesley Southgate took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Russell McDonald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
