The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fokas Petridis kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Petros Siamantouras took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Panagiotis Vyntra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanasis Tsirigopoulos kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Kelanνtis BC's Fokas Petridis got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 11 minutes into the match, Babbis Vakirtzis notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Kelanνtis BC's Petros Siamantouras. Petros Siamantouras was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Stavros Ikonomou sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Makis Tsakiroglou hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. 24 minutes into the match, Kelanνtis BC's goalkeeper Petros Siamantouras had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Babbis Vakirtzis. Petros Siamantouras showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Panagiotis Vyntra in the 26th minute of the match. Petros Siamantouras made an important save on a dangerous shot by Babbis Vakirtzis in the 31st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Babbis Vakirtzis got free with Petros Siamantouras in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Panagiotis Vyntra in the 40th minute of play forced Kelanνtis BC's goalkeeper Petros Siamantouras to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Petros Siamantouras made an important save on a dangerous shot by Babbis Vakirtzis in the 45th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Babbis Vakirtzis to make the kick off. Panagiotis Vyntra struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Petros Siamantouras didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Merkada FC. Babbis Vakirtzis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Petros Siamantouras having to interfere. If Panagiotis Vyntra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 65 minutes into the game, Iason Kesanopoulos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Petros Siamantouras was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Panagiotis Vyntra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Merkada FC's Sotiris Voudouris was substituted for Sakis Fyssas. Merkada FC made a substitution. Alexis Stagias replaced Iason Kesanopoulos. In the 88th minute Babbis Vakirtzis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petros Siamantouras saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Petros Siamantouras made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Panagiotis Vyntra in the 89th minute of play. Merkada FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
