The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Michalis Tzanetakos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kyriakos Bouloukos having to interfere. Thomas Mitropoulos made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Sotiris Tsekouras sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sotiris Tsekouras got free with Thomas Mitropoulos in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Makis Papaefthimiou sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sotiris Tsekouras stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the game, Loukas Kapetanoglou was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Malounion's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nikánor BC the free kick. After 51 played minutes Malounion got a freekick which was hit by Loukas Kapetanoglou. Thomas Mitropoulos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Panos Vernikos went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Panos Vernikos struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Thomas Mitropoulos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Nikánor BC. Panos Vernikos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thomas Mitropoulos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Sotiris Tsekouras blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Thomas Mitropoulos having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Panos Vernikos in the 75th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thomas Mitropoulos saved Malounion from getting behind. 77 minutes into the game, Michalis Tzanetakos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Kyriakos Bouloukos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Nikánor BC made a substitution. Michalis Terzis replaced Vaggelis Xilas. Nikánor BC made a substitution. Nikánor BC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sotiris Tsekouras was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Malounion defense, Sotiris Tsekouras kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Thomas Mitropoulos. The Malounion fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Thomas Mitropoulos should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Nikánor BC's Dimosthenis Stefanoulis got a free kick in the 91st minute. The supporters of Malounion booed when Nikánor BC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dimosthenis Stefanoulis didn't get a good kick on the ball.
