The audience thought a goal was coming when Christoforos Samoladas got free with Stavros Varvouzanis in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mairo Raie hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandros Laskaridis in the 14th minute of play forced PAOK's goalkeeper Stavros Varvouzanis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fotis Kastoriadis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. PAOK's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. Pantelis Kostakis kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Stavros Varvouzanis made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Giorgos Koubaroulis sent off a good shot on target. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Ulryk Grucza made the kick off in the second half. Stavros Varvouzanis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandros Laskaridis in the 52nd minute of the match.
