He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Oxford University reached it. If Fotis Makrikostas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thalis Sofianos in the 22nd minute of play forced Oxford University's goalkeeper Marios Vlastaridis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Oxford University getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Manos Leontakoglou hit a great ball. After having played for 30 minutes, Thalis Sofianos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vikings's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thalis Sofianos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 34 minutes into the game, Thalis Sofianos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Marios Vlastaridis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Thalis Sofianos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vikings's Koulis Kalimeris got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marios Vlastaridis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tony Delabre in the 40th minute of play. After 42nd play minutes Koulis Kalimeris shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Marios Vlastaridis and just under the crossbar into goal. Thalis Sofianos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Thalis Sofianos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 56 minutes, Tony Delabre managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vikings's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tony Delabre was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 58th minute, Tony Delabre hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Oxford University's zone, Koulis Kalimeris stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marios Vlastaridis came out of the goal and Koulis Kalimeris tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 72nd play minute Thalis Sofianos came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Marios Vlastaridis. 0-3. Vikings's Thalis Sofianos got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vikings made a substitution. Nektarios Kolitsidakis replaced Kleon Stavrinos. Thalis Sofianos's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Marios Vlastaridis firmly grabbed it by the left post. When Vikings's Iraklis Koutos in the 89th minute got a chance for a shot 89th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
