If Stathis Amanatidis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 46 minutes, Vassilis Bourantas mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Olympiakos and the Néa Málgara players grew even worse after the yellow card. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Thrasivoulos Kabolis to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Ntinos Kalvos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Olympiakos's supporters rose to their feet, but Ntinos Kalvos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
