In the 9th minute of the match Apostolikas Maravas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alexandros Softis skillfully saved the ball. When Panos Perdikoglou came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Πανιώνιος fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Panos Perdikoglou couldn't finish the play. Panos Perdikoglou fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alexandros Softis having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petros Patemtzis in the 19th minute of play forced TSEROKI's goalkeeper Alexandros Softis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 20th minute, Gerasimos Lazarakos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 24th minute Vladimiros Tsamis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Apostolos Kefalopoulos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 27 minutes into the match, Vladimiros Tsamis notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Πανιώνιος's Apostolos Kefalopoulos. Apostolos Kefalopoulos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Πανιώνιος's Alkaios Agathakos shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 30th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Alexandros Softis but with some difficulty. A collision led to TSEROKI getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Giannis Papachristou hit a great ball. 33 minutes into the match, TSEROKI's goal looked a bit too open when Apostolikas Maravas came free, but Alexandros Softis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Petros Patemtzis was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 34th minute. Πανιώνιος's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. When Πανιώνιος's Panos Perdikoglou in the 34th minute got a chance for a shot 34th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye TSEROKI's goalie prevented a goal. 41 minutes into the match, TSEROKI's goal looked a bit too open when Petros Patemtzis came free, but Alexandros Softis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Panos Perdikoglou struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Alexandros Softis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Πανιώνιος. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in TSEROKI's zone, Apostolikas Maravas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alexandros Softis came out of the goal and Apostolikas Maravas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Giotis Kakavetsis was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 56 minutes into the match. In the 55th minute, one of TSEROKI:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for TSEROKI. The referee gave Πανιώνιος a penalty, 58 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Apostolikas Maravas, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of TSEROKI's Alexandros Softis. 1-1. The supporters of TSEROKI booed when Πανιώνιος was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sotiris Vamvakoulas didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Petros Patemtzis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alexandros Softis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Petros Patemtzis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alexandros Softis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Petros Patemtzis in the 69th minute of the match. Petros Patemtzis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alexandros Softis having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Πανιώνιος's zone, Vladimiros Tsamis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Apostolos Kefalopoulos came out of the goal and Vladimiros Tsamis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Panos Perdikoglou in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alexandros Softis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 83rd minute, Petros Patemtzis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alexandros Softis was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Alexandros Softis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Petros Patemtzis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. TSEROKI's Alexandros Softis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Petros Patemtzis in the 90th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petros Patemtzis in the 93rd minute of play forced TSEROKI's goalkeeper Alexandros Softis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Panos Perdikoglou scored 3-1 in the 98th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alexandros Softis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Πανιώνιος's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
