Spectators: 7770 (Terracing: 5828, Seating: 1787, VIP seats: 155) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Sotos Megas started the match with the kick off. In the 6th play minute Apostolis Tsiartas came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Sokratis Batatoudis. 1-0. With an all-out effort, Π.Σ. Καλαμάτα's Sokratis Batatoudis threw himself towards the right post 10 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Sotos Megas, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Sokratis Batatoudis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sotos Megas, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 14th minute, Iason Stasinopoulos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sotos Megas in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sokratis Batatoudis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Errikos Mavrofidis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Sotos Megas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sokratis Batatoudis was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. In the 21st minute Sotos Megas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sokratis Batatoudis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sokratis Batatoudis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sotos Megas, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Errikos Mavrofidis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Errikos Mavrofidis came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the PANATHINAIKOS FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Errikos Mavrofidis couldn't finish the play. Orestis Theofilopoulos struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Sokratis Batatoudis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Π.Σ. Καλαμάτα. After 35 minutes of play, Π.Σ. Καλαμάτα's Sotos Megas made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sokratis Batatoudis was left in no man's land by his defense there! 41 minutes into the game, Apostolis Tsiartas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Sokratis Batatoudis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Apostolis Tsiartas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Sokratis Batatoudis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Theagenis Terzis made a kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sotos Megas in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sokratis Batatoudis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Apostolis Tsiartas might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sokratis Batatoudis. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Apostolis Tsiartas ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Π.Σ. Καλαμάτα getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Pavlos Rizos hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in PANATHINAIKOS FC's zone, Apostolis Tsiartas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sokratis Batatoudis came out of the goal and Apostolis Tsiartas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Apostolis Tsiartas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Sokratis Batatoudis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manos Staboulis kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Sokratis Batatoudis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sotos Megas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Errikos Mavrofidis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fotis Perdikas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Sokratis Batatoudis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sotos Megas in the 95th minute of play. 97 minutes into the match, Sotos Megas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sokratis Batatoudis. PANATHINAIKOS FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sotos Megas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Π.Σ. Καλαμάτα had played much better football throughout.
