After 12 minutes of play, Π.Σ. Καλαμάτα's Sotos Megas made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nikos Chatzipetrou was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 17th minute, Apostolis Tsiartas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Anthimos Katsikopodaros hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. The long shot by Paraskevas Ipsilantis in the 20th minute really tested Fotis Perdikas's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sotos Megas in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nikos Chatzipetrou saved Thiva from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Sotos Megas put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Nikos Chatzipetrou. After the first half Π.Σ. Καλαμάτα were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sotos Megas was the one to do the kick off.
