The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. AZZURRO's Giannis Kakatsios played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alekos Koulakiotis in the 3rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, AZZURRO's Charis Martinis got a free kick in the 4th minute. In the 5th minute Alekos Koulakiotis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giannis Kakatsios saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diogenis Zografos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Giannis Kakatsios tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Giannis Kakatsios showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Diogenis Zografos in the 10th minute of the match. AZZURRO's Charis Martinis got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Giannis Kakatsios showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diogenis Zografos, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 17th minute, AZZURRO's Marinos Maragos ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Thodoris Kourentas. Thodoris Kourentas yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. When Alekos Koulakiotis got free in front of the goal in the 20th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Giannis Kakatsios was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. If Alekos Koulakiotis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Diogenis Zografos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Paris Gaitanis hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Π.Α.Ο.Κ.'s Diogenis Zografos got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Diogenis Zografos in the 34th minute of play forced AZZURRO's goalkeeper Giannis Kakatsios to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 42 minutes, Charis Martinis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AZZURRO and the Π.Α.Ο.Κ. players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Π.Α.Ο.Κ. booed when AZZURRO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Charis Martinis didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 44 minutes of play, Π.Α.Ο.Κ.'s Alekos Koulakiotis made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Giannis Kakatsios was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 48th minute Diogenis Zografos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giannis Kakatsios saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marinos Maragos made a kick off. Marinos Maragos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thodoris Kourentas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Lambis Loukas kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. 58 minutes into the match, Π.Α.Ο.Κ.'s Pavlos Aggelis broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. Spyros Panagiotoulis took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 73rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Thodoris Kourentas. Π.Α.Ο.Κ.'s goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 76th minute, Marinos Maragos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Diogenis Zografoss short, quick shot in the 81stth minute got Giannis Kakatsios to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 82 played minutes AZZURRO got a freekick which was hit by Paris Gaitanis. After 86 played minutes Π.Α.Ο.Κ. got a freekick which was hit by Panos Spanos. 90 minutes into the game, Marinos Maragos cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Thodoris Kourentas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Makis Katsiabis during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 95 played minutes Π.Α.Ο.Κ. got a freekick which was hit by Makis Katsiabis.
