In the 3rd minute, Thomas Stavrou hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Vlassis Sapanis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Xerólakkos's supporters rose to their feet, but Vlassis Sapanis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anestis Fanakos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 8 minutes into the match, Gortynia's goal looked a bit too open when Antonis Athanasakis came free, but Anestis Fanakos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 21 minutes, Paris Lazarakis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Xerólakkos and the Gortynia players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 21 played minutes Xerólakkos got a freekick which was hit by Paris Lazarakis. 24 minutes into the match, Thomas Stavrou notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Xerólakkos's Zacharias Savouridis. Zacharias Savouridis was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thomas Stavrou recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Giorgos Voulgaris had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 34th minute, Thomas Stavrou got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Antonis Athanasakis fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Xerólakkos's protests and gave Antonis Athanasakis a yellow card for diving instead. Antonis Athanasakis kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Gortynia's Anestis Fanakos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonis Athanasakis in the 41st minute of play. Efthimis Charopoulos struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Zacharias Savouridis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gortynia. The supporters of Gortynia booed when Xerólakkos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paris Lazarakis didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Antonis Athanasakis to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Gortynia's goal looked a bit too open when Antonis Athanasakis came free, but Anestis Fanakos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 63 played minutes Gortynia got a freekick which was hit by Giorgos Voulgaris. Anestis Fanakos had great luck who in the 65thth minute grab hold of the ball when Antonis Athanasakis from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Anestis Fanakos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paris Lazarakis in the 70th minute of play. Efthimis Charopoulos's late challenge caught a Xerólakkos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Efthimis Charopoulos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 71st minute, Efthimis Charopoulos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard shot by Vlassis Sapanis from long distance, 72 minutes into the match, got Anestis Fanakos's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Zacharias Savouridis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michalis Skandalidis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 77th match minute, Xerólakkos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paris Lazarakis to maneuver through the defense. Prodromos Perdikakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Zacharias Savouridis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Xerólakkos's zone, Giorgos Voulgaris stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zacharias Savouridis came out of the goal and Giorgos Voulgaris tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 90 minutes, Giorgos Voulgaris managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gortynia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Giorgos Voulgaris was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Efthimis Charopoulos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 96 minutes of play Gortynia's Efthimis Charopoulos was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. A collision led to Gortynia getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Efthimis Charopoulos hit a great ball. When the referee ended the match the Gortynia players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
