The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Gerasimos Patsoureas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 2nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 5 played minutes Alkoolikoi FC got a freekick which was hit by Kostas Skiadopoulos. In the 5th minute of the match Argyris Kanellidis sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alexandros Kakadelis skillfully saved the ball. In the 6th minute, Vassilis Papadopoulos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 9 minutes into the match, Alkoolikoi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Babbis Giannoglou came free, but Alexandros Kakadelis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Anthimos Charalambidis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alexandros Kakadelis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Babbis Giannoglou in the 15th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Alekos Kalogeropoulos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Babbis Giannoglou struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Alexandros Kakadelis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for A.O. Kavalas. Alexandros Kakadelis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Babbis Giannoglou in the 22nd minute of play. In the 23rdth minute of the game Babbis Giannoglou who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Alkoolikoi FC's Alexandros Kakadelis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Anthimos Charalambidis managed to get in a good position for a shot. A.O. Kavalas's supporters rose to their feet, but Anthimos Charalambidis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexandros Kakadelis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 31 minutes into the match, Alkoolikoi FC's goal looked a bit too open when Anthimos Charalambidis came free, but Alexandros Kakadelis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Anthimos Charalambidis in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alexandros Kakadelis saved Alkoolikoi FC from getting behind. When Anthimos Charalambidis came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the A.O. Kavalas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anthimos Charalambidis couldn't finish the play. Alekos Kalogeropoulos's late challenge caught a A.O. Kavalas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alekos Kalogeropoulos helped the player get up and apologised. In the 40th match minute, Alkoolikoi FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alekos Kalogeropoulos to maneuver through the defense. In the 41st minute, Argyris Kanellidis sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Alkoolikoi FC's Alexandros Kakadelis didn't even have to move. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gerasimos Patsoureas to strike the kick off in the second half. Babbis Giannoglou scored 0-1 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alexandros Kakadelis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Vaios Trigonakis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Periklis Gemisis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerasimos Patsoureas in the 94th minute of play forced A.O. Kavalas's goalkeeper Vaios Trigonakis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 97 minutes, Anthimos Charalambidis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. A.O. Kavalas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anthimos Charalambidis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Babbis Giannoglou got free with Alexandros Kakadelis in the 99th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle sounded A.O. Kavalas left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Alkoolikoi FC.
