The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Panos Spathas kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. Paris Tzanetakis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giorgos Kastanakos having to interfere. Nikos Michail recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Anagennisi Karditsas booed when Ios was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paris Tzanetakis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Renos Zouboulakis kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Paris Tzanetakis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Panos Spathas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Argyris Drakos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 24th minute, Fokas Asimidis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Through an outstanding action, after 36 minutes, Giorgos Kastanakos successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Lakis Liapakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Giorgos Kastanakos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Anagennisi Karditsas defense, Paris Tzanetakis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Giorgos Kastanakos. The Anagennisi Karditsas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Giorgos Kastanakos should have stopped the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

In the 56th minute, Vassilis Kozirakis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paris Tzanetakis in the 58th minute of play forced Anagennisi Karditsas's goalkeeper Giorgos Kastanakos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Anagennisi Karditsas's zone, Lakis Liapakis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giorgos Kastanakos came out of the goal and Lakis Liapakis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Demis Eleftherakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Argyris Drakos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 74 played minutes Anagennisi Karditsas got a freekick which was hit by Aris Kounenakis. The Ios fans' excitement grew in the 78th match minute when Ios's Paris Tzanetakis looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Vassilis Kozirakis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ios's supporters rose to their feet, but Vassilis Kozirakis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Giorgos Kastanakos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Paris Tzanetakis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Paris Tzanetakis hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Giorgos Kastanakos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Paris Tzanetakis in the 88th minute of play. Giorgos Kastanakos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paris Tzanetakis, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Paris Tzanetakis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Giorgos Kastanakos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 100 minutes into the match, Anagennisi Karditsas's goal looked a bit too open when Paris Tzanetakis came free, but Giorgos Kastanakos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ios fans cheered their team off the field, for while Anagennisi Karditsas had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
