Aston Villa's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alketas Paragios was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Argyris Koulakidis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Michalis Papadas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Aston Villa getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Emmanouil Vrazilianos hit a great ball. In the 34th minute, Nikos Manolopoulos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, Aston Villa's Anastasios Chatziiakovou tried to score from far away in the 35th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 37th minute, Aggelos Tsibos made a precise shot to the right of Michalis Papadas. Fanari FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Dimitris Samaras charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dimitris Samaras the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Fanari FC's Dimitris Samaras got a free kick in the 47th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aggelos Tsibos stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Aston Villa's goalkeeper Aggelos Fanakoglou, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 53 minutes into the match, Fanari FC's Alketas Paragios sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Aggelos Fanakoglou narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dimitris Samaras received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Aggelos Fanakoglou tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aston Villa's Aggelos Fanakoglou proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Aston Villa from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dimitris Samaras in the 65th minute of play forced Aston Villa's goalkeeper Aggelos Fanakoglou to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 68th minute, Dimitris Samaras got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 70th match minute, Aston Villa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anastasios Chatziiakovou to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Themos Sferas during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Aston Villa getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Themos Sferas hit a great ball. Alketas Paragios's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aggelos Fanakoglou read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. Michalis Papadas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aggelos Tsibos, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Dimitris Samaras sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Michalis Papadas came out of the goal in the 92nd minute to try and stop a shot by Aston Villa's Aggelos Tsibos. But to his dismay, Aggelos Tsibos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
