The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 15 minutes into the match, PANIONIOS FC's goalkeeper Kleanthis Seremetopoulos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ignatios Pithagoras. Nikos Paramithis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Edgar de Cler having to make a save. Makis Bakosis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ignatios Pithagoras sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 28 minutes into the match, Bakari's goal looked a bit too open when Lambros Papalazarou came free, but Edgar de Cler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 33 played minutes PANIONIOS FC got a freekick which was hit by Timos Sabrakos. Dimitris Asimatos was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 34th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Ignatios Pithagoras sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Makis Bakosis in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kleanthis Seremetopoulos saved PANIONIOS FC from getting behind. 47 minutes into the match, Bakari's Ignatios Pithagoras sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kleanthis Seremetopoulos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After the first half PANIONIOS FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

PANIONIOS FC's Lambros Papalazarou got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bakari's Edgar de Cler proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Bakari from getting a goal against them. Kleanthis Seremetopoulos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Makis Bakosis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 61st match minute, PANIONIOS FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Achilleas Bounias to maneuver through the defense. Lambros Papalazarou fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edgar de Cler having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Makis Bakosis in the 73rd minute of play forced PANIONIOS FC's goalkeeper Kleanthis Seremetopoulos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th match minute, PANIONIOS FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Achilleas Bounias to maneuver through the defense. Panos Bouzios hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. 79 minutes into the match, Bakari's goal looked a bit too open when Nikos Paramithis came free, but Edgar de Cler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute of the match Makis Psarros shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Edgar de Cler showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 82nd minute Nikos Paramithis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgar de Cler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. PANIONIOS FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Makis Psarros in the 96th minute. After taking down the ball on PANIONIOS FC's corner Makis Psarros fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Edgar de Cler quite easily take care of the ball. The PANIONIOS FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing PANIONIOS FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
