In the 18th minute, one of PAOK FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for PAOK FC. If Antonis Nestorakoglou had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Iordanis Katsoulakis charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Iordanis Katsoulakis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC Saint Neilos Utd booed when PAOK FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iordanis Katsoulakis didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, FC Saint Neilos Utd's Nikos Kontaxis got a free kick in the 30th minute. When Evaggelos Makaronas came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the PAOK FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evaggelos Makaronas couldn't finish the play. FC Saint Neilos Utd's Tasos Michalakos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giorgos Kostetsos in the 35th minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, FC Saint Neilos Utd's goal looked a bit too open when Antonis Nestorakoglou came free, but Tasos Michalakos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute, Antonis Nestorakoglou got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Giorgos Kostetsos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tasos Michalakos having to interfere. Tasos Michalakos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giorgos Kostetsos in the 47th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Giorgos Kostetsos to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Giorgos Kostetsos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 53 minutes into the match, Antonis Nestorakoglou notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of FC Saint Neilos Utd's Tasos Michalakos. Tasos Michalakos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The long shot by Kostas Pirovolidis in the 58th minute really tested Tasos Michalakos's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Loukianos Kakaronis hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. If Babbis Makris had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 67th minute Giorgos Kostetsos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tasos Michalakos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Giorgos Kostetsos might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tasos Michalakos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Giorgos Kostetsos ran back to his position shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Antonis Nestorakoglou managed to get in a good position for a shot. PAOK FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Antonis Nestorakoglou was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tasos Michalakos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tasos Michalakos was a little too slow when Giorgos Kostetsos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 70th minute. The score was now 1-2. Fokas Papatsakalos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Loukianos Kakaronis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Fokas Papatsakalos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Babbis Makris in the 88th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Loukianos Kakaronis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fokas Papatsakalos was relentless in the 91st minute of the game.
