The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute, Giannis Katzos made a precise shot to the right of Savas Moustakas. Dhιlka's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in AMSTERDAM's zone, Apostolis Tsoros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Giannis Ntinopoulos came out of the goal and Apostolis Tsoros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dorotheos Kopitsis in the 14th minute of play forced Dhιlka's goalkeeper Savas Moustakas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dhιlka were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after AMSTERDAM's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Antonis Agapiadis took the corner. The corner ended in Antonis Agapiadis almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but AMSTERDAM's Giannis Ntinopoulos did a great save. Giannis Ntinopoulos was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Charalambos Kastanis showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 19 minute of play. Apostolis Tsoros struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Giannis Ntinopoulos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dhιlka. Savas Moustakas came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by AMSTERDAM's Giannis Katzos. But to his dismay, Giannis Katzos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. With a little luck, AMSTERDAM's Giannis Ntinopoulos got control of the ball when Apostolis Tsoros tried to sneak it across the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Dorotheos Chatzifotis was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 55th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Giannis Ntinopoulos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Apostolis Tsoros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 64th minute, Konstantinos Papaggelis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 71 minutes, Dimosthenis Dilberis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dhιlka and the AMSTERDAM players grew even worse after the yellow card.
