The supporters of SALAMINA booed when ΦΟΙΝΙΚΑΣ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. When Grigoris Panagopoulos came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the SALAMINA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Grigoris Panagopoulos couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aggelos Tabakos in the 21st minute of play forced ΦΟΙΝΙΚΑΣ's goalkeeper Ermegildo Mendez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 22 minutes into the game, Aggelos Tabakos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SALAMINA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ΦΟΙΝΙΚΑΣ the free kick. Theagenis Seitaridis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ermegildo Mendez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aggelos Tabakos, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Nektarios Bourlokas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. SALAMINA's Soulis Trofantos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fanis Fakkas in the 35th minute of play. In the 36th minute of the match ΦΟΙΝΙΚΑΣ got a corner. SALAMINA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nektarios Bourlokas ran over to the corner to take the kick. Aggelos Tabakos struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Ermegildo Mendez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SALAMINA. In the 39th minute, Lefteris Tzirakis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Nektarios Bourlokas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Soulis Trofantos was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nektarios Bourlokas was the one to do the kick off. After 51 played minutes ΦΟΙΝΙΚΑΣ got a freekick which was hit by Nikos Retzias. After having played for 54 minutes, Paris Patsas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ΦΟΙΝΙΚΑΣ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paris Patsas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ermegildo Mendez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Grigoris Panagopoulos in the 64th minute of the match. When Nektarios Bourlokas came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the ΦΟΙΝΙΚΑΣ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nektarios Bourlokas couldn't finish the play. 0-1 became the score in the 69th minute when Nektarios Bourlokas elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Vassilis Voitsidis hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Theagenis Seitaridis's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 79thth minute, Soulis Trofantos skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fanis Fakkas in the 80th minute of play forced SALAMINA's goalkeeper Soulis Trofantos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Soulis Trofantos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fanis Fakkas in the 83rd minute of play. Nikos Retzias charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nikos Retzias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nikos Retzias kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. After 89 played minutes ΦΟΙΝΙΚΑΣ got a freekick which was hit by Nikos Retzias. If Paris Patsas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ermegildo Mendez came out of the goal in the 96th minute to try and stop a shot by SALAMINA's Aggelos Tabakos. But to his dismay, Aggelos Tabakos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
