The audience was convinced that Thanasis Souliopoulos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sakis Kalabalikis was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. The supporters of Trikala F.C. booed when Genésio BC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stathis Daras didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sakis Kalabalikis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Panos Gabriilidis in the 27th minute of the match. After having played for 29 minutes, Panos Gabriilidis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Trikala F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Panos Gabriilidis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Trikala F.C.'s goalkeeper Theofanis Abelas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Viktoras Thomakos. The audience was convinced that Thanasis Souliopoulos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sakis Kalabalikis was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. Sakis Kalabalikis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Thanasis Souliopoulos went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After 47 played minutes, Trikala F.C.'s Veniamin Klotsidis shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Sakis Kalabalikis came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Trikala F.C. reached it. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Thanasis Souliopoulos made a kick off. Sakis Kalabalikis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Thanasis Souliopoulos in the 51st minute. Thanasis Souliopoulos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Sakis Kalabalikis made a huge save. Thanasis Souliopoulos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 57thth minute tested the skills of Sakis Kalabalikis when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 64th minute Viktoras Thomakos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Theofanis Abelas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zacharias Tsartas in the 65th minute of play forced Trikala F.C.'s goalkeeper Theofanis Abelas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sakis Kalabalikis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thanasis Souliopoulos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Genésio BC's Sakis Kalabalikis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Genésio BC from getting a goal against them. Thanasis Souliopoulos had several of the Genésio BC's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 70 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-2 score and a disappointed Sakis Kalabalikis as he didn't even see the shot coming. When the match had gone on for 74 minutes, Thanasis Souliopoulos put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Sakis Kalabalikis. When Fotis Tziortzopoulos fell near the penalty area in the 80th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Trikala F.C.'s protests and gave Fotis Tziortzopoulos a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Trikala F.C. getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Fotis Tziortzopoulos hit a great ball. With his leg Sakis Kalabalikis managed to avoid a goal in the 84thth minute, when Trikala F.C.'s Thanasis Souliopoulos fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. If Panos Gabriilidis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes into the game, Lefteris Pikilidis recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sakis Kalabalikis. Lefteris Pikilidis showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-4. After 91 played minutes Genésio BC got a freekick which was hit by Daniil Piomenos. Theocharis Lemonis hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. The Trikala F.C. players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
