The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A hard shot 9 in the game by Giannis Chatzakis from a close distance when the talented Minas Kakavos managed to make a qualified save. Panionios FC's players were relieved. After 11 minutes of play, Panionios FC's Anastasios Diamantidis made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Christos Papadopoulos was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 15th minute, one of Αkova:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Αkova. In the 16th minute there was a penalty for Panionios FC. Christos Karagiannopoulos stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Christos Papadopoulos. 0-2. After a rather tough play, Αkova's Giannis Chatzakis got a free kick in the 23rd minute. When Panionios FC's Christos Karagiannopoulos in the 26th minute got a chance for a shot 26th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Αkova's goalie prevented a goal. Minas Kakavos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antonis Pnevmatikatos, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Αkova's Giannis Chatzakis slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Minas Kakavos. That made the score 1-2 after 35 minutes of play. Giannis Chatzakis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Panionios FC's Christos Karagiannopoulos in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Αkova's goalie prevented a goal. Fotis Giotoulis hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Giannis Persias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panionios FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Giannis Persias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christos Papadopoulos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 47 minutes into the game, Panionios FC's Christos Karagiannopoulos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Christos Papadopoulos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. The Αkova players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Panionios FC were winning 1-3.

With an all-out effort, Panionios FC's Christos Papadopoulos threw himself towards the right post 53 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Christos Karagiannopoulos, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. If Anastasios Diamantidis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Christos Karagiannopoulos might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Christos Papadopoulos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Christos Karagiannopoulos ran back to his position shaking his head. Christos Karagiannopoulos's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 59thth minute, Christos Papadopoulos skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Christos Karagiannopoulos came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Panionios FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Christos Karagiannopoulos couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Αkova's Christos Sakelaridis got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Theagenis Paragas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Christos Papadopoulos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Theagenis Paragas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Efthimis Zaranis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Theagenis Paragas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Christos Papadopoulos made a huge save. Fotis Giotoulis charged in rather forcefully in the 74th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fotis Giotoulis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Αkova getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Fotis Giotoulis hit a great ball. Giannis Chatzakis struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Minas Kakavos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Αkova. 82 minutes into the match, Fotis Giotoulis notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Panionios FC's Minas Kakavos. Minas Kakavos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Christos Karagiannopoulos's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 87thth minute, Christos Papadopoulos skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 89th minute, Christos Karagiannopoulos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panionios FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Christos Karagiannopoulos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Christos Papadopoulos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Αkova's zone, Anastasios Diamantidis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christos Papadopoulos came out of the goal and Anastasios Diamantidis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Christos Karagiannopoulos struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Christos Papadopoulos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panionios FC. Panionios FC's Theagenis Paragas got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Panionios FC played a much better game than Αkova and deserved their victory. The Αkova players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
