Stathis Kechribaris was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 16th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Efthimis Zaranis hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Αkova's zone, Minas Matzios stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christos Papadopoulos came out of the goal and Minas Matzios tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Christos Papadopoulos went to the wrong direction when Stathis Kechribaris was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Christos Papadopoulos didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Omiros Kyriakidis went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 27th minute Efthimis Zaranis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sakis Tsigas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Αkova's Efthimis Zaranis in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The Agia Sofia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Omiros Kyriakidis might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Christos Papadopoulos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Omiros Kyriakidis ran back to his position shaking his head. Efthimis Zaranis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sakis Tsigas having to interfere. Isidoros Zotalis kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Giannis Chatzakis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Αkova's supporters rose to their feet, but Giannis Chatzakis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sakis Tsigas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Αkova players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Agia Sofia were winning 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Omiros Kyriakidis was the one to do the kick off. Minas Matzios's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Christos Papadopoulos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Αkova's Giannis Chatzakis got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Efthimis Zaranis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Sakis Tsigas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sakis Tsigas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Efthimis Zaranis in the 72nd minute of play. A collision led to Αkova getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Fotis Giotoulis hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Efthimis Zaranis in the 79th minute of play forced Agia Sofia's goalkeeper Sakis Tsigas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Agia Sofia's Stathis Kechribaris shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 84th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Christos Papadopoulos but with some difficulty. After some careless play in the Agia Sofia defense, Efthimis Zaranis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sakis Tsigas. The Agia Sofia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sakis Tsigas should have stopped the shot. If Giannis Chatzakis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Agia Sofia walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
