When Prokopis Androulakis fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chelsea F.C's protests and gave Prokopis Androulakis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 8th minute, Prokopis Androulakis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Konstantinos Ikonomopoulos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cyprus Eagles AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Konstantinos Ikonomopoulos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Babbis Maltezakis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Markos Katselis struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Babbis Maltezakis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cyprus Eagles AFC. Babbis Maltezakis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Konstantinos Ikonomopoulos in the 14th minute of the match. Nontas Markas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 21st minute of the match Cyprus Eagles AFC got a corner. Chelsea F.C's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Leonidas Stathis ran over to the corner to take the kick. Cyprus Eagles AFC's Leonidas Stathis was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Babbis Maltezakis in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 23rd minute Nontas Markas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Babbis Maltezakis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Babbis Maltezakis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nontas Markas in the 27th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Chelsea F.C's Pavlos Fotiadis threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Stavros Tsiantakis, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Babbis Maltezakis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Konstantinos Ikonomopoulos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th minute Anestis Bougiouris suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Chelsea F.C's Stamatis Katsivalis was substituted for Anestis Bougiouris. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 41st minute, Dimitris Karagiannidis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Nontas Markas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute Nontas Markas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Babbis Maltezakis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nontas Markas to make the kick off. Babbis Maltezakis was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Chelsea F.C's zone, Nontas Markas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Babbis Maltezakis came out of the goal and Nontas Markas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cyprus Eagles AFC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
