The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th match minute, Π.Α.Ο.Κ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Theofilos Serpanos to maneuver through the defense. In the 5th minute Paris Matsoukelis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Apostolis Kartsolis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Kyriakos Vryzas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Theofilos Serpanos in the 13th minute of the match. Π.Α.Ο.Κ's Kyriakos Tsiolis suffered a sore thigh after 14 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nikos Paramithis during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Π.Α.Ο.Κ booed when Olympiakos fc was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nikos Paramithis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eustratios Markogiannakis kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Π.Α.Ο.Κ's goalkeeper Apostolis Kartsolis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Kyriakos Vryzas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Theofilos Serpanos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 34 minutes, Sokratis Liolidis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Olympiakos fc's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sokratis Liolidis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iosif Kastanias in the 39th minute of play forced Olympiakos fc's goalkeeper Kyriakos Vryzas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute, Iosif Kastanias got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kyriakos Vryzas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iosif Kastanias, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Iosif Kastanias was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 53rd minute. Π.Α.Ο.Κ's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. 72 minutes into the game, Iosif Kastanias cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Kyriakos Vryzas was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Iosif Kastanias received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Kyriakos Vryzas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 77 minutes into the match, Olympiakos fc's goalkeeper Kyriakos Vryzas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Theofilos Serpanos. After 81 minutes, Sokratis Liolidis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Olympiakos fc and the Π.Α.Ο.Κ players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 81st minute, Sokratis Liolidis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kyriakos Vryzas was a little too slow when Vaggelis Antoniou got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 87th minute. The score was now 0-2. Iosif Kastanias fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kyriakos Vryzas having to interfere.
