The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Lepνdhi FC! Viktoras Fotakis shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Odysseas Ntalakos hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Michalis Gazis showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Nikos Borbokis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lepνdhi FC's Nikolas Petrochilopoulos came free and shot a quick shot against goal 19 minutes in the game, fortunately Paško Vukašin had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Agustin Limofer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Giotis Skalidis charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Giotis Skalidis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Π.Ε.Κ.Θ booed when Lepνdhi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stamatis Seretis didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Agustin Limofer came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Π.Ε.Κ.Θ fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agustin Limofer couldn't finish the play. After 27 minutes, Stathis Sotiriadis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lepνdhi FC and the Π.Ε.Κ.Θ players grew even worse after the yellow card. Π.Ε.Κ.Θ's Charis Tsekouras got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nikolas Petrochilopoulos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Paško Vukašin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nikolas Petrochilopoulos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paško Vukašin having to interfere. Michalis Gazis was out of position in the 64 minute of play, and Charis Tsekouras capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lepνdhi FC's Michalis Gazis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustin Limofer in the 68th minute of play. Π.Ε.Κ.Θ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Charis Tsekouras was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Agustin Limofer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lepνdhi FC's Michalis Gazis proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 78th minute of the match, managed to save Lepνdhi FC from getting a goal against them. Charis Tsekouras could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Michalis Gazis made a huge save. Π.Ε.Κ.Θ were furious when Merlin Cukjati was red carded, 82 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Π.Ε.Κ.Θ fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 82nd minute. Penalty!
