Spectators: 6902 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1752, VIP seats: 150) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Panu Kopola kicked off to start the match. In the 2nd minute, Elmer Kukkamäki hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Viipurin Palloseura's Tony Lumijärvi got a free kick in the 4th minute. Leo Kirjonen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manne Villanen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Jyrki Meltoranta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Ykspihlaja's zone, Manne Villanen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leo Kirjonen came out of the goal and Manne Villanen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leo Kirjonen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arnulfo Lalla in the 14th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Viipurin Palloseura's goal looked a bit too open when Jyrki Meltoranta came free, but Fabiën Meyer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leo Kirjonen made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Arnulfo Lalla sent off a good shot on target. 28 minutes into the match, Viipurin Palloseura's goal looked a bit too open when Juha-Pekka Lahikainen came free, but Fabiën Meyer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Tero Myllyniemi came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Ykspihlaja fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tero Myllyniemi couldn't finish the play. Viipurin Palloseura's Fabiën Meyer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juha-Pekka Lahikainen in the 39th minute of play. After 40 played minutes Viipurin Palloseura got a freekick which was hit by Juha Blomquist. Tony Lumijärvi kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The supporters of Viipurin Palloseura booed when Ykspihlaja was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Herkko Viitaluoma didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leo Kirjonen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manne Villanen, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. But to his dismay, Manne Villanen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Leo Kirjonen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Panu Kopola in the 72nd minute of play. Ykspihlaja's Leo Kirjonen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manne Villanen in the 77th minute of play. Juha-Pekka Lahikainen's late challenge caught a Viipurin Palloseura's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juha-Pekka Lahikainen helped the player get up and apologised. Juha-Pekka Lahikainen kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Tero Myllyniemi's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Fabiën Meyer firmly grabbed it by the left post. Arnulfo Lalla kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. In the 88th minute, Jyrki Meltoranta reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Fabiën Meyer. The goal made the score 1-1. Leo Kirjonen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manne Villanen in the 94th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Panu Kopola in the 96th minute of play forced Ykspihlaja's goalkeeper Leo Kirjonen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Viipurin Palloseura succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ykspihlaja had controlled the match.
