After having played for 5 minutes, Topi Laurila managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Huutokoski IFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Topi Laurila was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mika Keinänen struck a weak shot in the 7th minute. Kari Hakanpää didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Huutokoski IFK. In the 15th minute, Armas Rintala hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aarno Haapala fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kimmo Salmi having to interfere. In the 19th match minute, Huutokoski IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Samuel Heinikallio to maneuver through the defense. Huutokoski IFK's Kimmo Salmi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aarno Haapala in the 20th minute of play. A collision led to Huutokoski IFK getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Armas Rintala hit a great ball. After having played for 22 minutes, Aarno Haapala managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palosaaren Uimarit's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aarno Haapala was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Vesa Hietamäki sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Palosaaren Uimarit's Kari Hakanpää proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 27th minute of the match, managed to save Palosaaren Uimarit from getting a goal against them. If Mika Keinänen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 34 minutes into the match, Huutokoski IFK's goal looked a bit too open when Vesa Hietamäki came free, but Kimmo Salmi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 38 minutes in the game, Mika Keinänen fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Kari Hakanpää having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Aarno Haapala managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palosaaren Uimarit's supporters rose to their feet, but Aarno Haapala was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kimmo Salmi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Mika Keinänen made the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Palosaaren Uimarit defense, Samuel Heinikallio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kari Hakanpää. The Palosaaren Uimarit fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kari Hakanpää should have stopped the shot. Palosaaren Uimarit's Kari Hakanpää played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Topi Laurila in the 57th minute of play. Anselmi Harjanne kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. Huutokoski IFK's Mika Keinänen got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kimmo Salmi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vesa Hietamäki, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Palosaaren Uimarit's Vesa Hietamäki got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Topi Laurila had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mika Keinänen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kari Hakanpää read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. When Vesa Hietamäki came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Palosaaren Uimarit fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vesa Hietamäki couldn't finish the play. Vesa Hietamäki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Kimmo Salmi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Huutokoski IFK fans cheered their team off the field, for while Palosaaren Uimarit had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
