Raino Karjalainen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kyösti Lumme in the 13th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Taavetti Tarvainen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Haapakylä's supporters rose to their feet, but Taavetti Tarvainen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sami Torkkeli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Panu Karjala struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Raino Karjalainen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for New York Red Bulls. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kyösti Lumme in the 21st minute of play forced Haapakylä's goalkeeper Raino Karjalainen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Einari Ollikainen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sami Torkkeli read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. New York Red Bulls's Sami Torkkeli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Einari Ollikainen in the 29th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, Taavetti Tarvainen dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Sami Torkkeli, 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Taavetti Tarvainen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Haapakylä's supporters rose to their feet, but Taavetti Tarvainen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sami Torkkeli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Einari Ollikainen came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Haapakylä fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Einari Ollikainen couldn't finish the play. New York Red Bulls's Sami Torkkeli proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 49th minute of the match, managed to save New York Red Bulls from getting a goal against them. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kyösti Lumme was the one to do the kick off. Panu Karjala received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Raino Karjalainen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Panu Karjala had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 64th minute, Sami Huokko fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Raino Karjalainen, passed just outside the right post. When New York Red Bulls's Sami Huokko in the 64th minute got a chance for a shot 64th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Haapakylä's goalie prevented a goal. If Panu Karjala had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sami Torkkeli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Einari Ollikainen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. New York Red Bulls's Erno Modig suffered a sore thigh after 77 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Leif Valtonen kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. If Vilho Nevanlinna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Taavetti Tarvainen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Taavetti Tarvainen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Sami Torkkeli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Einari Ollikainen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sami Torkkeli was relentless in the 99th minute of the game. Haapakylä's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
