If Einari Ollikainen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Haapakylä's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Tero Olkkonen 25 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Taavetti Tarvainen might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aatami Kemppainen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Taavetti Tarvainen ran back to his position shaking his head. Kuisma Paatelainen kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. The supporters of Sulkulahti booed when Haapakylä was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tahvo Ruhanen didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 42 played minutes Sulkulahti got a freekick which was hit by Jorma Kuusiniemi. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sami Äijälä during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tero Olkkonen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Tero Olkkonen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Raino Karjalainen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorma Kuusiniemi in the 54th minute of play. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Haapakylä's goalkeeper Raino Karjalainen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Haapakylä getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Kuisma Paatelainen hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Haapakylä's zone, Tero Olkkonen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raino Karjalainen came out of the goal and Tero Olkkonen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Sulkulahti's Sami Äijälä got a free kick in the 71st minute. Aatami Kemppainen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vilho Nevanlinna in the 76th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Haapakylä's Aatami Kemppainen threw himself towards the right post 83 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Einari Ollikainen, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After having played for 89 minutes, Tero Olkkonen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sulkulahti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tero Olkkonen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Raino Karjalainen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tero Olkkonen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
