Veijo Hagelberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Oskari Tikkanen's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. Alvar Kallijärvi spun around in front of the goal 24 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Eiskola's goal. Tauno Wahlroos might have been able to make a better finish in the 30th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leif Selänne. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tauno Wahlroos ran back to his position shaking his head. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alvar Kallijärvi in the 32nd minute of play forced Eiskola's goalkeeper Leif Selänne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manchester City's Veijo Hagelberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oskari Tikkanen in the 35th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester City's zone, Klaus Toivanen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Veijo Hagelberg came out of the goal and Klaus Toivanen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 45 minutes into the match, Manchester City's goalkeeper Veijo Hagelberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Klaus Toivanen. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alvar Kallijärvi made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Ensio Salermo made a precise shot to the right of Veijo Hagelberg. Manchester City's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. In the 58th minute Oskari Tikkanen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Veijo Hagelberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tauno Wahlroos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Manchester City's zone, Klaus Toivanen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Veijo Hagelberg came out of the goal and Klaus Toivanen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Klaus Toivanen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Veijo Hagelberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Veijo Hagelberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Klaus Toivanen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Oskari Tikkanen got free in front of the goal in the 75th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Veijo Hagelberg was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. If Klaus Toivanen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th minute, Uljas Jansson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A hard and well directed shot from Rafael Kampman led 86 minutes into the game to a goal after the ball had bounced deceptively just in front of the goal. Eiskola's Leif Selänne became a little unsure and couldn't grip the ball before it was over the goalline. Thus it was 3-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Oskari Tikkanen managed to get in a good position for a shot. Eiskola's supporters rose to their feet, but Oskari Tikkanen was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Veijo Hagelberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There was no doubt that Eiskola were the better team. Eiskola's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
