Joni Hassinen lost his temper 5 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 5 played minutes Heinäperä got a freekick which was hit by Joni Hassinen. In the 7th minute of the match Santtu Nyrhinen shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Teppo Vähäsavo showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Onni Elo succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-0 in the 9th playminute. Herkko Vihermäki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kaleva Hiltunen having to interfere. A collision led to FC Opetuslapset getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Sulo Teräs hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in FC Opetuslapset's zone, Ari Grönholm stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kaleva Hiltunen came out of the goal and Ari Grönholm tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 1-1 became the score in the 20th minute when Herkko Vihermäki elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. If Urpo Pirjetä had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Onni Elo managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Opetuslapset's supporters rose to their feet, but Onni Elo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Teppo Vähäsavo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 26 played minutes Heinäperä got a freekick which was hit by Ari Grönholm. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Opetuslapset's Urpo Pirjetä slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Teppo Vähäsavo. That made the score 2-1 after 28 minutes of play. Herkko Vihermäki took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kaleva Hiltunen. Kaleva Hiltunen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Onni Elo was extremely unlucky when he, in the 41st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Onni Elo managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Opetuslapset's supporters rose to their feet, but Onni Elo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Teppo Vähäsavo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Herkko Vihermäki sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vilhelm Junnila received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Kaleva Hiltunen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 69th minute, Herkko Vihermäki ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kaleva Hiltunen was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. Herkko Vihermäki received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Kaleva Hiltunen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pertti Etula hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. When Klaus Palenius fell near the penalty area in the 78th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Heinäperä's protests and gave Klaus Palenius a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Heinäperä getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Klaus Palenius hit a great ball. If Herkko Vihermäki had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When FC Opetuslapset's Urpo Pirjetä in the 91st minute got a chance for a shot 91st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Heinäperä's goalie prevented a goal. The Heinäperä supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Heinäperä would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
