Into Nyrhinen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Veikka Pikkarainen in the 28th minute of the match. Rainer Olkkonen took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Into Nyrhinen. Into Nyrhinen dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Reko Okkonen kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. In the 37th minute, Black Wolves's Vesa Kuki dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Urho Furuholm made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jalmari Viitala in the 44th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

53 minutes into the match, Riispyy's goal looked a bit too open when Ensio Riihijärvi came free, but Urho Furuholm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Antti Kuhta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Black Wolves's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Riispyy the free kick.
