The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Käyrälä's goalkeeper Viljo Kauppinen, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Heino Laatikainen in the 11th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Viljo Kauppinen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Heino Laatikainen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Heino Laatikainen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Viljo Kauppinen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Käyrälä getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. After a rather tough play, Känsäkangas's Toimi Saravo got a free kick in the 35th minute. 39 minutes into the match, Känsäkangas's goal looked a bit too open when Ossi Tuuri came free, but Terho Voutilainen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 41 minutes, Terho Voutilainen successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 43rd minute, Ossi Tuuri reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Terho Voutilainen. The goal made the score 1-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ossi Tuuri was the one to do the kick off.
