In the 12th minute Miska Jokiranta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leif Tähtinen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 17th minute, Petteri Laaksonen made a precise shot to the right of Leif Tähtinen. Palojoensuu IFK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. A collision led to Palojoensuu IFK getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Mauri Pettinen hit a great ball. If Miska Jokiranta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Miska Jokiranta was extremely unlucky when he, in the 28th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Mika Hautamäki sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Jäätävä Polte's Perttu Perälä played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paavali Kapanen in the 40th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Mika Hautamäki managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palojoensuu IFK's supporters rose to their feet, but Mika Hautamäki was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Perttu Perälä breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Leif Tähtinen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petteri Laaksonen in the 52nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Miska Jokiranta managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Jäätävä Polte's supporters rose to their feet, but Miska Jokiranta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leif Tähtinen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 56thth minute of the game Miska Jokiranta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Palojoensuu IFK's Leif Tähtinen was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Petteri Laaksonen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leif Tähtinen having to interfere. In the 63rd minute, Juuso Kaltiainen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Paavali Kapanen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leif Tähtinen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Miska Jokiranta in the 75th minute of the match.
