In the 13th minute Miko Holmström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sami Uusipaavalniemi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Vasaramäki booed when Sokolina.FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahto Kauppila didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leif Kaski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Taito Vainionpää, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th minute of the match, Atte Alanko tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Leif Kaski saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When the match clock showed 24 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Atte Alanko sped through Sokolina.FK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Leif Kaski. After 28 minutes, Atte Alanko mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vasaramäki and the Sokolina.FK players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 28 played minutes Vasaramäki got a freekick which was hit by Atte Alanko. If Taito Vainionpää had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 32 minutes of play, Sokolina.FK's Riku Kaitainen made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sami Uusipaavalniemi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Leif Kaski made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Atte Alanko sent off a good shot on target. In the 41st minute, Atte Alanko got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Atte Alanko to make the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Sokolina.FK's goal looked a bit too open when Atte Alanko came free, but Leif Kaski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sami Uusipaavalniemi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Heikki Blomquist in the 55th minute. Sami Uusipaavalniemi was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Sauli Vuorinen. The crowd rose to their feet as Eino Poikolainen kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Sami Uusipaavalniemi. That made the score 1-2 in the 70 minute of play. Vasaramäki were furious when Jere Pentsinen was red carded, 79 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 78 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Vasaramäki! Sauli Vuorinen walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. When Kerkko Immonen came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Vasaramäki fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kerkko Immonen couldn't finish the play. Auvo Eerola's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Leif Kaski read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. Auvo Eerola struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Leif Kaski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vasaramäki. Vasaramäki's Kerkko Immonen got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vasaramäki's Taito Vainionpää got a good chance for a goal in the 99th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vasaramäki were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Sokolina.FK to leave the ground with a draw.
