The Mätäsvaara IFK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Mätäsvaara IFK's Kari Jaakkola managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Nikodemus Sulin in the 13 minute of the game. Tero Keinänen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mika Reinikainen went, in the 17th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The supporters of JJ Puujalat booed when Mätäsvaara IFK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mika Reinikainen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Saku Sanevuori took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nikodemus Sulin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kari Jaakkola couldn't finish the play. In the 48thth minute of the game Rauli Vatanen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but JJ Puujalat's Tero Keinänen was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rauli Vatanen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Kari Jaakkola fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tero Keinänen having to interfere. Mätäsvaara IFK's Ilmo Ahmaoja got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mika Reinikainen struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Tero Keinänen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mätäsvaara IFK. Rauli Vatanens short, quick shot in the 63rdth minute got Tero Keinänen to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 65 minutes into the match, Rauli Vatanen dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Tero Keinänen, 0-4. 68 minutes into the game, Ilmo Ahmaoja cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-5. Tero Keinänen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 71st match minute, JJ Puujalat was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hemminki Korkeamäki to maneuver through the defense. Though ot was a great shot JJ Puujalat's keeper Tero Keinänen was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. Mika Reinikainen might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tero Keinänen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mika Reinikainen ran back to his position shaking his head. Arvo Ristolainen hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. 86 minutes into the match, JJ Puujalat's goalkeeper Tero Keinänen had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rauli Vatanen. Mätäsvaara IFK's Mika Reinikainen quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Nikodemus Sulin, made in the 88th minute of the game. 91 minutes into the match, Mätäsvaara IFK's Rauli Vatanen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tero Keinänen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mätäsvaara IFK's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
