Leif Kuki fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robert Palsola having to interfere. When Norwich City's Kari Suoste in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Perhon Kiri's goalie prevented a goal. After having played for 34 minutes, Leif Kuki managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Perhon Kiri's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leif Kuki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Elmeri Ojanen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonne Puranen in the 37th minute of play. In the 37th match minute, Perhon Kiri was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Miska Tallus to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Patrick Meltoranta got free with Robert Palsola in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Leif Kuki was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 42nd minute. Perhon Kiri's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Leif Kuki managed to get in a good position for a shot. Perhon Kiri's supporters rose to their feet, but Leif Kuki was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Robert Palsola breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leif Kuki stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute of the match Perhon Kiri got a corner. Norwich City's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Pentti Lotvonen ran over to the corner to take the kick. Kari Suoste recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kari Suoste struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Elmeri Ojanen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Norwich City. After 67 minutes, Kustavi Siivonen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Perhon Kiri and the Norwich City players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 67th minute, Kustavi Siivonen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 70 minutes had been played when some careless play by Perhon Kiri's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mika Pirnes was slow to take the kick. During this time Norwich City's players had a chance to rest. Norwich City's Mika Pirnes was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Elmeri Ojanen in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 79th minute, Sami Selänne got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Miska Tallus kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. After 83 played minutes Norwich City got a freekick which was hit by Mika Pitkänen. Perhon Kiri's Elmeri Ojanen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Perhon Kiri from getting a goal against them. During the 97th minute of the match Kustavi Siivonen completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Kustavi Siivonen a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kari Suoste in the 99th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Elmeri Ojanen prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
