In the 6th minute Maunu Vallin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaakko Nyman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tauno Kotilahti received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Rainer Vihtilä tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat's Jaakko Nyman got control of the ball when Pirkka Tukio tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 13th match minute, Minnesota Wild was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hemminki Väätäinen to maneuver through the defense. When Jukka Hedberg came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jukka Hedberg couldn't finish the play. After 17 minutes of play, Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat's Jukka Hedberg made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rainer Vihtilä was left in no man's land by his defense there! Aaron Koivisto charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Aaron Koivisto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat booed when Minnesota Wild was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hemminki Väätäinen didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Artturi Arkivuo fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat's protests and gave Artturi Arkivuo a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Artturi Arkivuo hit a great ball. Jaakko Nyman made an important save on a dangerous shot by Maunu Vallin in the 32nd minute. In the 37th minute, Tauno Kotilahti got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tauno Kotilahti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 47 minutes into the match, Tauno Kotilahti notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Minnesota Wild's Rainer Vihtilä. Rainer Vihtilä was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jukka Hedberg was the one to do the kick off. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat's Jukka Hedberg in the 60th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Rainer Vihtilä was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Minnesota Wild through an amazing save. If Jukka Hedberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Minnesota Wild's Rainer Vihtilä proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Minnesota Wild from getting a goal against them. With his leg Rainer Vihtilä managed to avoid a goal in the 71stth minute, when Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat's Tauno Kotilahti fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 72 minutes into the game, Perttu Kivi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Minnesota Wild's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat the free kick. In the 72nd match minute, Minnesota Wild was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Perttu Kivi to maneuver through the defense. In the 79th minute, Jukka Hedberg fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Jukka Hedberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Anselmi Kangaskorpi kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Jaakko Nyman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maunu Vallin in the 95th minute of play. When the final whistle sounded Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Minnesota Wild.
