Rainer Vihtilä made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Jouni Lepistö sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Minnesota Wild's Rainer Vihtilä got control of the ball when Jouni Lepistö tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jouni Lepistö received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Rainer Vihtilä tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maunu Vallin in the 25th minute of play forced Rovevaara FC's goalkeeper Mauno Hannula to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Keijo Lampinen fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rovevaara FC's protests and gave Keijo Lampinen a yellow card for diving instead. Keijo Lampinen kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. Pirkka Tukio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mauno Hannula read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. Rainer Vihtilä didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Rovevaara FC's Ville Palo shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-0 in the ordered_time% minute. After a rather tough play, Minnesota Wild's Perttu Kivi got a free kick in the 36th minute. After having played for 39 minutes, Ville Palo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rovevaara FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ville Palo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With an all-out effort, Rovevaara FC's Rainer Vihtilä threw himself towards the right post 41 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ville Palo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 42 minutes into the match, Minnesota Wild's goal looked a bit too open when Ville Palo came free, but Rainer Vihtilä reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Pirkka Tukio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 46th minute Maunu Vallin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mauno Hannula saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Maunu Vallin made a kick off. Rainer Vihtilä stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ville Palo's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. Jouni Lepistö struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Rainer Vihtilä didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rovevaara FC. Rovevaara FC's Mauno Hannula proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 72nd minute of the match, managed to save Rovevaara FC from getting a goal against them. After having played for 75 minutes, Maunu Vallin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Minnesota Wild's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maunu Vallin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rainer Vihtilä made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jouni Lepistö in the 78th minute of play. In the 84th match minute, Minnesota Wild was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lassi Pelttari to maneuver through the defense. When Ville Palo came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Rovevaara FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ville Palo couldn't finish the play. Pirkka Tukio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
