The referee showed Jukka Hedberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of FC Posio booed when Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jukka Hedberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tauno Kotilahti recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 9th minute, Jukka Hedberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 11 minutes, Tauno Kotilahti managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tauno Kotilahti was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 13th minute, Jukka Hedberg reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ahti Sulin. The goal made the score 1-0. 17 minutes into the match, Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat's goal looked a bit too open when Miro Tuomainen came free, but Jaakko Nyman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute Jukka Hedberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ahti Sulin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 33rd minute of the match Uuno Heikkinen shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jaakko Nyman showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jukka Hedberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ahti Sulin having to interfere. When Miro Tuomainen fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Posio's protests and gave Miro Tuomainen a yellow card for diving instead. Miro Tuomainen hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. If Alfred Parkkonen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Tauno Kotilahti in the 59th minute of play forced FC Posio's goalkeeper Ahti Sulin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 63 played minutes Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat got a freekick which was hit by Uolevi Kultanen. In the 64th minute, Raimo Tarvainen ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jaakko Nyman was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Ahti Sulin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tauno Kotilahti in the 68th minute of play. If Jukka Hedberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 82 minutes, Tauno Kotilahti managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tauno Kotilahti ran back to his position shaking his head. Vetokannaksen Veli-Kullat were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
