Ahti Sulin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jouni Lepistö in the 40th minute of the match. Raimo Tarvainen scored 1-1 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Mauno Hannula, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

Ahti Sulin made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Jouni Lepistö sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ville Palo in the 53rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ahti Sulin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. FC Posio's Ahti Sulin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ville Palo in the 55th minute of play. In the 56th match minute, FC Posio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jorma Viander to maneuver through the defense. In the 61st minute, Atso Kamppunen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Raimo Tarvainen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. Jouni Lepistö who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 67thth minute tested the skills of Ahti Sulin when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Mauno Hannula was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. FC Posio had won after a very even match.
