In the 14th minute, one of Real Kemi:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Real Kemi. The goalkeeper, Turkka Manninen, was totally fooled by Saramo's Sampo Pihkala, who 15 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Real Kemi's Turkka Manninen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Voitto Markkula in the 22nd minute of play. If Leevi Hernesniemi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lasse Kuivaharju made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juhana Korkeamäki in the 31st minute of play. Saramo's Lasse Kuivaharju played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Uolevi Mansikkamäki in the 33rd minute of play. Lasse Kuivaharju showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Uolevi Mansikkamäki in the 34th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Real Kemi's zone, Voitto Markkula stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Turkka Manninen came out of the goal and Voitto Markkula tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leevi Hernesniemi struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Turkka Manninen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Saramo.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Uolevi Mansikkamäki was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Juhana Korkeamäki managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Real Kemi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Juhana Korkeamäki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 56 minutes into the game, Juhana Korkeamäki cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Lasse Kuivaharju was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Voitto Markkula fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Turkka Manninen having to interfere. 62 minutes into the match, Real Kemi's goal looked a bit too open when Leevi Hernesniemi came free, but Turkka Manninen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Turkka Manninen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Voitto Markkula, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. A collision led to Real Kemi getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Simo Rinne hit a great ball. Turkka Manninen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leevi Hernesniemi in the 77th minute of play. If Matias Laitila had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 83 minutes, Rainer Loikala mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Real Kemi and the Saramo players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 84 played minutes Real Kemi got a freekick which was hit by Rainer Loikala. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Juhana Korkeamäki took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Lasse Kuivaharju to make any attempt to save it. When Leevi Hernesniemi came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Saramo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leevi Hernesniemi couldn't finish the play. Real Kemi's Turkka Manninen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leevi Hernesniemi in the 96th minute of play. The Real Kemi supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Real Kemi would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
