Kemi's Kustaa Lampinen suffered a sore foot after 31 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Julius Möksy's late challenge caught a Kemi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Julius Möksy helped the player get up and apologised. In the 32nd minute, Julius Möksy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jarkko Poikolainen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julius Möksy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kemi's Jarkko Poikolainen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julius Möksy in the 36th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Jouni Petsamo could shoot a difficult shot in the 38th minute, which Jarkko Poikolainen however easily saved by the left post. If Julius Möksy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 44 played minutes Kemi got a freekick which was hit by Raino Sauso. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leif Ryynänen stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jouni Petsamo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Jarkko Poikolainen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Julius Möksy had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Julius Möksy struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. In the 78th minute, one of Kemi:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Kemi. Kemi:s Jarkko Poikolainen showed great skill when he stopped Kerkko Ruohiainen:s penalty. In the 81st minute, Kerkko Ruohiainen left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Rovaniemen pallo seura fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Rovaniemen pallo seura walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
