Pertti Kenig was shown his second yellow card after 4 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Nikolai Lampinen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jari Litmanen in the 9th minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 10th minute of the game. One of Sunderland A.F.C:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of 300:s goal. In the 12th minute there was a penalty for 300. Kaleva Airisto stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Kauno Pihlman. 1-0. After 19 minutes, Jari Litmanen made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. 300's Nikolai Lampinen tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Jari Litmanen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Nikolai Lampinen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute Jari Litmanen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nikolai Lampinen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 33 minutes into the match, 300's goal looked a bit too open when Jari Litmanen came free, but Nikolai Lampinen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 56 minutes into the match, Jari Litmanen notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of 300's Nikolai Lampinen. Nikolai Lampinen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Rainer Peuhkuri struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Nikolai Lampinen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sunderland A.F.C. In the 62nd minute, Ahti Andersson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Sunderland A.F.C booed when 300 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahti Andersson didn't get a good kick on the ball. 68 minutes into the game, Jari Litmanen recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Nikolai Lampinen. Jari Litmanen showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. Jari Litmanen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nikolai Lampinen having to interfere. Jari Litmanen could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Nikolai Lampinen made a huge save. 81 minutes into the match, 300's goal looked a bit too open when Rainer Peuhkuri came free, but Nikolai Lampinen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nikolai Lampinen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jari Litmanen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tapio Lehti recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jari Litmanen in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nikolai Lampinen saved 300 from getting behind. When Jyrki Seva came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Sunderland A.F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jyrki Seva couldn't finish the play. The 300 fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Sunderland A.F.C were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
