Spectators: 7586 (Terracing: 5806, Seating: 1780, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Salomo Markkula kicked off to start the match. Nurmela IFK's Esa Jokila played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Salomo Markkula in the 3rd minute of play. Esa Jokila showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jimi Mustonen, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. In the 7th minute, Mauno Tuomisaari got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 8 minutes, Kauko Pikkarainen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Rantapallot and the Nurmela IFK players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 8th minute, Kauko Pikkarainen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in FC Rantapallot's zone, Auno Vapaniemi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Petteri Ollonen came out of the goal and Auno Vapaniemi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Niilo Sihvonen charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Niilo Sihvonen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Nurmela IFK booed when FC Rantapallot was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niilo Sihvonen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Petteri Ollonen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauno Tuomisaari, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute, Jimi Mustonen got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Mauno Tuomisaari kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Petteri Ollonen. That made the score 1-0 in the 27 minute of play. After having played for 30 minutes, Olli Gustafsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nurmela IFK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Olli Gustafsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Auno Vapaniemi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Petteri Ollonen made a huge save. If Mauno Tuomisaari had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute, Olli Gustafsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. FC Rantapallot were awarded a corner in the 48th minute after Nurmela IFK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Atro Puumala took the corner. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Auno Vapaniemi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nurmela IFK's supporters rose to their feet, but Auno Vapaniemi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Petteri Ollonen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Iivo Kanninen fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Rantapallot's protests and gave Iivo Kanninen a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Nurmela IFK booed when FC Rantapallot was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iivo Kanninen didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd match minute, Nurmela IFK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olli Gustafsson to maneuver through the defense. Jimi Mustonen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Esa Jokila having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Nurmela IFK's Mauno Tuomisaari got a free kick in the 68th minute. Salomo Markkula received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Esa Jokila tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Mauno Tuomisaari had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Niilo Sihvonen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 81st match minute, FC Rantapallot was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aaro Uitto to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Auno Vapaniemi in the 83rd minute of play forced FC Rantapallot's goalkeeper Petteri Ollonen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Auno Vapaniemi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Petteri Ollonen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. During the 85th minute of the match Kauko Pikkarainen completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Kauko Pikkarainen a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. FC Rantapallot's Petteri Ollonen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauno Tuomisaari in the 87th minute of play.
