Spectators: 6785 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1775, VIP seats: 10) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Voitto Leppänen took the kick off in the first half of the match. Teemu Santala fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Heikki Kiviranta having to interfere. 5 minutes into the game, Toimi Sauso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Zenit's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mälsälä the free kick. In the 5th minute, Toimi Sauso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Voitto Leppänen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute Vesa Peltonen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Heikki Kiviranta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joonatan Lindberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Voitto Leppänen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Voitto Leppänen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joonatan Lindberg read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. Joonatan Lindberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Voitto Leppänen in the 21st minute of play. After having played for 24 minutes, Jonne Vestman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mälsälä's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jonne Vestman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, FC Zenit's Toimi Sauso got a free kick in the 31st minute. Jonne Vestman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joonatan Lindberg having to interfere. Joonatan Lindberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Voitto Leppänen in the 38th minute of the match. 39 minutes into the game, Teemu Santala recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Heikki Kiviranta. Teemu Santala showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Mälsälä's Voitto Leppänen got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Teemu Santala had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Voitto Leppänen in the 53rd minute of play forced FC Zenit's goalkeeper Joonatan Lindberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Joonatan Lindberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jonne Vestman in the 54th minute. After a rather tough play, FC Zenit's Toimi Sauso got a free kick in the 55th minute. Voitto Leppänen struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Joonatan Lindberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mälsälä. Joonatan Lindberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Voitto Leppänen in the 62nd minute of play. FC Zenit's Asmo Sorsa got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 70th minute, Asmo Sorsa ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Heikki Kiviranta was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. 80 minutes into the match, FC Zenit's goalkeeper Joonatan Lindberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jonne Vestman. Joonatan Lindberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Voitto Leppänen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Voitto Leppänen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Joonatan Lindberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
