Spectators: 7713 (Terracing: 5786, Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 153) 8 minutes into the match, FC Zenit's goalkeeper Joonatan Lindberg had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Petri Viitakoski. Joonatan Lindberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pekka Wallen in the 9th minute of play. Jyrki Timonen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teemu Santala in the 11th minute of the match. In the 13th minute of the match FC Zenit got a corner. Mennen FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Vesa Kaipainen ran over to the corner to take the kick. FC Zenit's Vesa Kaipainen was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jyrki Timonen in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After having played for 15 minutes, Teemu Santala managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Zenit's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teemu Santala was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Teemu Santala had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Asmo Sorsa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Asmo Sorsa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Jyrki Timonen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pekka Wallen sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Petri Viitakoski managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mennen FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Petri Viitakoski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joonatan Lindberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Joonatan Lindberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pekka Wallen in the 36th minute of play. In the 39th minute, Asmo Sorsa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Mennen FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. FC Zenit were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pekka Wallen to make the kick off. After 59 minutes, Antti Blom mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mennen FC and the FC Zenit players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 59 played minutes Mennen FC got a freekick which was hit by Antti Blom. Joonatan Lindberg came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Mennen FC's Pekka Wallen. But to his dismay, Pekka Wallen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Mennen FC's Jyrki Timonen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Mennen FC from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the Mennen FC defense, Teemu Santala kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jyrki Timonen. The Mennen FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jyrki Timonen should have stopped the shot. Teemu Santala struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Jyrki Timonen didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Zenit. After a rather tough play, Mennen FC's Lasse Leppilampi got a free kick in the 81st minute. After having played for 89 minutes, Pekka Wallen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mennen FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pekka Wallen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
